Most people still call me Tony, or T.J. for short. Johnstown, PA was my home for 39 years until I decided to start a new life and a new career on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. I joined my sister here in 2006 and have loved every bit of the natural, untouched beauty that the Outer Banks offers in its landscapes and in its people.
From 2006 until 2013, I worked at The Currituck Golf Club (one of the nation’s premiere courses), eventually becoming the Head Golf Professional. It was at The Currituck Club, which also features a wedding event facility, that I first glimpsed the possibilities of a future in the wedding industry. I began to explore wedding-related opportunities in 2007 by helping with weddings at The Club and with The Proper Setting, an event planning company, founded by Nannette & Eric Kallestad. I gained experience in many facets of the wedding day process, including setup, breakdown, catering and even the ceremonies themselves. I really enjoyed the work and the satisfaction of knowing that I helped create that once-in-a-lifetime experience for two people in love.
Then, on September 26th, 2010, I did what everyone reading this is planning to do. I married the love of my life, Mary Lashley Joseph! Our officiant that day was Rev. Jay Bowman. Somehow I knew from the moment I met him that Jay is one of those rare people who will influence your future path and I knew I would see him again.
As fate would have it, it was Jay who first set me on my current course through a casual conversation last September. I finally realize what I am meant to do. After months of thought, the support of my wife and daughter, friends and, of course, Jay as a mentor, I have embarked on a new career as an Outer Banks wedding officiant helping couples begin a life of love and happiness together. I am so honored to be a part of your special day where the ocean meets the sand on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
